Bodega Dunes is another campground where you don’t get an assigned spot. Most of the good ones were taken but we found a decent spot in the upper loop and set up camp. The sites here are fairly close together. They have flush toilets, warm water and token showers.
Sunday morning while taking Sato on his morning walk we spotted the campers in the best spot had checked out…..so we hustled over to the camp host and changed our spot to #4. This is the best spot! It’s huge with big trees, no neighbors and backs up to sandy dunes. This is the one to get if you ever camp here.
It was time to take the kayak out again. We hadn’t kayaked on the last few trips. We tried launching up in Jenner but the parking was full so we drove up the River to Monte Rio Beach. Have I mentioned how much we love the kayak? We hauled it down to the rivers edge and then just used the foot pump. It’s really quick and easy and stable for an inflatable. A great option for those with space issues. Sato is getting much more comfortable with it too.
We spent the next morning at Schoolhouse Beach, a dog friendly beach just north of Bodega Bay, fetching with Sato.
After hearing how amazing Spud Point Crab Co. was, we had to try it. Yep! It’s amazing! We tried both the white and red chowder but the crab sandwich was our favorite. So good, we lined up for another. F.Y.I it’s super casual with outside seating only but so worth a visit.
For those of you camping with dogs check out Dog Trekker.
