Costanoa – KOA

We are back where it all started! – Costanoa!

Costanoa is where we did our “trial teardrop“ run this same weekend last year. We rented from Camp Weathered  and decided this could actually work for us if we found a little bigger teardrop model. The search began and our custom built tiny teardrop was made by Rich at Trailhawkcampers by Memorial weekend.

Costanoa is a MUST if you haven’t been. It’s one of the best spots for a more glamping type experience. There is a big lodge, some log cabins, canvas tent cabins, RV sites and the seascape village which is where we stay. It’s a loop of small sites with hookups that have an ocean view ( reserve sites 11, 13, 15 or 17). The grounds are lovely and very well kept. Lots of open grass for all types of outdoor activities. Great for kids and dogs.

The ocean is across Hwy 1, so you do need to cross the highway to walk on the beach but the campground has views and you can hear the waves breaking all night long. There is a spa, which we haven’t tried but will on our next visit. The restaurant, Cascade has white tablecloths, great food and fireplaces in the two front corners, a full bar that serves dirty martinis just the way we like um. A fun place to spend the evening before heading back to your own campfire.

The little town of Pescadero is really cute with a coffee shop, a great market – Arcangeli Grocery co/Norms Market with wine, cheese and homemade baked goods. The restaurant Duarte’s Tavern is suppose to be excellent but that will have to wait for our next trip as we dined at Cascades again this time.

The closest Dog friendly beach is Bean Hollow about a 6 mile drive from camp. It’s a pretty beach with a few different coves. We went both days, one evening for sunset and then the next day for a coastal hike. All the hikes around camp do not allow dogs.

On our drive back to the Bay Area we made some quick stops. Pigeon point lighthouse is worth a stop as it’s really pretty with all the wild flowers blooming below it. We also pulled over in Half Moon Bay to pick up fresh fish for dinner and some locally grown pesticide free veggies. Season 2 is officially kicked off!
