Quick visit to Annapolis MD

What a fun time in Annapolis, MD……

Downtown Annapolis
Main Street Annapolis

When on a several month road trip across the country, our experience wasn’t just about the places we went or the food we ate, it was also about the people we met along the way.  As I’ve mentioned in earlier posts, we have met some amazing people who have become fantastic resources as well as good friends.  In my blog post on Vermont, I had talked about this super cool Airstream couple who we met at the Quechee KOA and that they offered to have us park Olive on their property.  Well, here we are – finally to the Annapolis blog post 🙂

Our first night in town, we stayed at the Washington D.C. KOA, about 20 minutes down the road from Greg and Kathy’s place.  We drove to their home to check out the property and where we could leave Olive for the day, then we jumped in their car for a mini tour of Downtown Annapolis from a local’s perspective.

We parked at the Annapolis City Dock in historic downtown then walked down Main Street to have dinner at one of the favorite restaurants called Preserve.  Unfortunately, they were closed so we walked a bit farther down Main Street to Vida Taco Bar which was amazing! (Now you have two restaurant recommendations next time you are in Annapolis – you can thank me later 🙂

Tacos are great any day of the week, but we happened to be there on a Tuesday, and you know what that means… Taco Tuesday! Lucky for us, Vida Taco Bar had a 20% off tacos deal on Tuesdays – score!  Between the 4 of us, we had 11 tacos, 2 baskets of chips & guac, 2 margaritas each all for only $64 with tip – thank you Vida and Taco Tuesday!  Everything on the menu was great and the margaritas were amazing so next time you are in Annapolis – lunch or dinner at Vida Taco – you won’t be disappointed.

For you wine enthusiasts out there, our next stop was to Mills Fine Wine and Spirits which offers unique and hard to find wines from all over the US.  We picked up a couple bottles of red and some moonshine as well!

The next morning, we parked Olive at Greg and Kathy’s house – a term in the camping world known as “mooch docking”.  Friendlier than it sounds – it basically means that the homeowner or landowner is politely offering to have you stay on their property for free, just don’t overstay your welcome 😉

Since there are several retail shops and restaurants on Main Street that make for a perfect sightseeing day trip, we took the opportunity to explore downtown before heading to our next destination.  We grabbed a bite to eat at Iron Rooster, had a great meal, and the coffee that they served is a local Maryland brand called Rise Up.  The coffee was so good it quickly became my new favorite.  The restaurant doesn’t sell the coffee for brewing at home but if you are in Annapolis, you can purchase some across the street at Market House (a landmark establishment in Annapolis for the past 160 years) or on the Rise Up website.

We enjoyed the short time we had in Annapolis and look forward to visiting again soon.

Cheers,

Tiny Trailer Trips Crew
