Podcast Interview – The Wayward Home

Before we set off on our 8.5 month cross country journey, I had searched for podcasts that focused on the nomad life in hopes to gain some useful information for our new way of life and to find one that may be interested in telling our story.  Most of the podcasts I had come across were outdated and not posting new content, but there was one that was just getting started and had an interesting background called The Wayward Home.

To get a conversation started, I connected with the host of The Wayward Home on LinkedIn.  It turns out that Kristin Hanes and I had worked at KGO radio at the same time but in different departments.  At that time, Kristin was living in a Prius and was very familiar with tiny living.  Now here we are 12 years later and she spends half of the year in her Astrovan and the other half on a sailboat in Mexico working remotely and traveling the world –  pretty cool! She leads an impressive life of freedom, mobility and adventure and is helping others learn how to live the new American dream of pushing back from the desk and seeing the world through a different lens.

When I heard back from Kristin, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that she was interested in interviewing us for a future podcast episode.  We had completed our first recording with Kristin before we left, but with our limited experience we didn’t have much advice to offer.  Fortunately that episode didn’t get published and we ended up recorded again when we returned from our trip.  With 8.5 months of nomad life experience under our belts, we had a lot more takeaways to share making for a better listening experience.

To hear our story, you can listen to our episode on Apple Podcasts, HERE or you can view on YouTube by clicking HERE. If nomad life is something you are interested in, we hope you enjoy and find the information useful and informative, and if not, we hope you can find some joy in living vicariously through our travels 🙂
